My sister Julie beautifully described our Aunt Ginny´s devotion to teaching. Heck, it always seemed she was in "teaching mode." And if by chance she wasn´t, felt like all that was necessary was for her to flick that switch to become blessed to experience one of her lessons.
More specifically, Aunt Ginny was a gifted writer. And she would constantly encourage me to share my "stuff" with her.
Her editorials would often get headline status in the Orange County Register...my more humble contributions would sometimes make it into the LA Times.
Ginny made me a better writer, pure and simple. There were indeed, times when Ginny and I did not agree 100% on an issue, but get this...I remember her once, advising me on how to strengthen my argument even though I think it was a bit contrary to hers on the same subject!
It was all about mutual respect and civility between us. Something sorely lacking in contemporary political debate today. Ginny, my mom and my soulmate G all contributed to making me a better MAN!
Dare I say, women continue to be the salvation of MANkind.
Yes, it is true that Auntie G educated me so much in terms of how to present and defend thoughts on paper, but in college I came across a quote from Paulo Coelho that has always reminded me of my Auntie G...
"The world is changed by your EXAMPLE not your opinion.´"
Auntie G set a fine lifetime example to all she engaged with...family, friends, total strangers...
[G´s are the "G"reatest!]
