Christopher Lee "Chris" Bridwell, 50, of Athens passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2023. Chris was a member of The Fellowship Church in Sweetwater, where he served as sound technician. He was employed with the Athens Plow Company. A native of McMinn County, he was preceded in death by his father, Norman "Jack" Bridwell; paternal grandparents, Barney and Elvira Pritchett Bredwell; and maternal grandparents, Carrie and Nora Morgan Duggan. He is survived by his mother, Linda Duncan Bridwell of Athens; daughter, Kathy Renae Bridwell (fiancé, Jacob Dockery) of Riceville; sons, Dakota Lee Bridwell (Kali), U.S. Air Force currently stationed in Okinawa, Japan, and Zachary Duncan Bridwell (Krysta), U.S. Air Force currently stationed in Fairfield, Calif.; grandson, Henry Duncan Bridwell; brother, Scott Bridwell of Athens; niece, Kaylea Fanony of Vancouver, Wash.; nephew, Levi Bridwell of Athens; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 2, at Ziegler Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor Derrick McCosh officiating. Interment will be held on Thursday, Aug. 3, at 1 p.m. in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Decatur. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
