James Hagins Obituary

James Hagins

Born: October 22, 1948 | Died: November 1, 2025

James Hagins, 77, of Riceville went home to be with Jesus and Derrick on November 1, 2025.

James cherished nothing more than spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He found peace and joy in the beauty of nature, often watching the deer outside his home and the hummingbirds that visited each summer. James was a devoted member of Westview Baptist Church in Athens, TN. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Preceded in death by son, Derrick Hagins; parents, B.W. and Nellie Hagins; sister, Wanda Schee.

Survivors include his wife 53 years, Paula Hagins; three grandchildren, Sandi (Raymond) Brown, Amanda Jamerson, and Rob (Mica) Trammell; six great grandchildren, Bryson, Jayden, Rylen, Addison, Lachlan, Silas; great great grandchild, Sawyer; daughter in law, Angie Hagins; and many other loved family and friends.

There will be a Memorial Service at a later date at Westview Baptist Church in Athens, TN. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to be made to St. Jude’s in memory of James, as he always said "no child should have to go through this ugly disease".

Companion Funeral Home of Athens and the Cody family are honored to assist the Hagins family with these arrangements.
