Rick Gene Perian

Rick Gene Perian, 70, passed Monday, Aug. 8, 2022, at his home in Delano. Rick served in law enforcement as a police officer in Etowah and a detective in Polk County; he also served in the National Guard. Rick was a known Jokester and was always good for a laugh. He spent time in his garden and with his chickens, but most of all, he loved his grandkids; they were his life. Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Sanford and Ellen Perian; daughter, Natasha Perian; and brother, James Perian. He is survived by his wife, Penny Perian of Delano; son, Mark (Sheri) Riggs of Athens; grandchildren, Tiffany (Seth) Widdis of Etowah, Taylor Bledsoe of Cleveland, and Gavin Riggs of Athens; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Logan Widdis of Etowah, and Teagan Brewer of Cleveland; siblings, Brenda (Laurence) Stewart of Delano, Chester (Joann) Perian of Etowah, Winston (Judy) Perian of Etowah, and Donna Freeman of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews and many friends. The family received friends on Wednesday, Aug. 10, from 6 to 8 p.m., with services following at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Robbie Hatcher officiating. Rick will be laid to rest in Delano Cemetery Thursday at 10 a.m. Serenity Funeral Home of Etowah was in charge of arrangements.
