Alexandra Prassas

Alexandra Prassas, 89, passed away February 27, 2021. Born in Karpenisi, Greece, she came to the United States as a bride in 1963 and was widely known in the community as Alexa or Mama. Over the years, she worked in numerous family businesses owned by her husband and her children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Demetrios K. Florakis and Ekaterini Leloudis Florakis; sisters, Angeliki Panagiotopoulou and Electra Tsahri; one brother, Konstantinos D. Florakis, and one nephew Demetrios Panagiotopoulos, all of Greece. Her pride and joy were her children and grandchildren and she was especially proud of their educations. Alexa is survived by her husband of 57 years, John Prassas; daughter Katherine Protogyrou (Andrew); daughter Joanne Prassas; daughter Maria Williams (Joe) and son George Prassas (Rita); her grandchildren, Antoni and Demetra Protogyrou, Alexis, Chrisanthi and Yianni Prassas; one brother of Williamsburg Virginia, Laki Florakis (MaryAnn) and numerous nieces and nephews both in the United States and in Greece. Funeral services were at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church on March 3, 2021 with burial immediately following at Williamsburg Memorial Park.
