Beverly Elliott Obituary

Visit the Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service - New Castle website to view the full obituary.

Beverly Sue (Clark) Elliott died on March 26th, 2026 after an extended illness. Born on Nov. 4, 1942 in New Castle, she was the oldest daughter of Chester Ray and Angie Elizabeth (Hart) Clark.

Beverly was a 1961 New Castle Chrysler High School graduate, a member of the first class to graduate from the new high school. She met Duane Stafford Elliott through 4-H Junior Leaders and they were married June 27, 1964, at New Castle Ninth St. Wesleyan Methodist Church. They had two children, Dwight and April.

Beverly graduated from Marion College (now Indiana Wesleyan) with a B.A. in Elementary Education in 1965; she earned her M.A. in Reading and Gifted and Talented at Ball State University in 1969. She began her 30-year teaching career at Spiceland Elementary School, and then moved to the Charles A. Beard School Corp., where she taught at Kennard, Carthage, and Knightstown. Beverly wrote many grants for the benefit of students in the corporation. As an educator, Beverly led students and families learning experiences in Colonial Williamsburg, Va., Space Camp in Huntsville, Al., and Washington, D.C. Bev was involved in Tri-Kappa Sorority, March of Dimes for Henry County, and various committees for the Friends Meeting. Beverly valued relationships with her colleagues, students, and community members.

In addition to spearheading innovative education programs, Bev was active in the community. She and Duane were part of the Quaker Meeting for their entire 61-year marriage. She shared her faith through her involvement in the Friends Meetings and the Women’s Christian Temperance Movement. Her faith in Jesus Christ was her motivator in life.

Beverly was a dedicated farm wife and mother. At home, Bev was actively engaged in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She loved spending time outside gardening, watching the grandchildren enjoy swimming, and taking them for gator rides around the farm. Her delight was spending time together on the annual family vacation. She enjoyed keeping extensive genealogical records as well. She and Duane were leaders for High School Sunday School and Youth Group.

Bev is survived by her husband, Duane; son Dwight (Lori) Elliott of Marion; daughter April (Todd) Fisher of Zionsville; six grandchildren: Drew Elliott, Caleb Elliott, Emma (Nick) Small and Ethan Elliott (Arianna Bidwell), Aaron Fisher and Jon Fisher; two great-grandchildren, Wren Elliott and Samuel Small; and three sisters, Donna Bunner, Jane (Jeff) Kernel, and Karen (Brian) Daniels; many nieces and nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Patricia.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2026 at Spiceland Friends Meeting with Pastors David Brock and Sid Martin officiating. A time for friends and family to gather from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. A private family burial took place at Glen Cove Cemetery.
