Robert Carraway Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mountain View Funeral Home & Cemetery on Mar. 26, 2026.
Robert "Bob" William Carraway, 95, passed away on March 6, 2026. He was born on April 5,
1930, in Anderson, Indiana.
Bob graduated from Anderson High School in 1948 before beginning his collegiate studies
at Ball State University. It was there that he met Betty Joanna Carraway, who was studying
to become a teacher. The two soon married and shared 32 years together, raising four
children. During his early adulthood, Bob joined the United States Air Force, serving until he
was called home after his father was tragically killed in an auto accident.
Bob had five sisters: Phyllis Brown, Joyce Petit, Janice Carraway, Patty Avila, and Mary
Carraway. Four of his sisters preceded him in death; Mary survives him.
Bob built a successful lifelong career in sales with National Chemsearch, where his natural
charisma, warm personality, and strong work ethic helped him thrive in the industrial
chemical sales field.
In the early 1990s, Bob married Janice Carraway, and together they made their home in
Mesa, enjoying the sunshine and slower pace of life in Arizona. As he gradually shifted into
part-time work, Bob devoted more of his time to service. He and Jan became dedicated
volunteers at MD Anderson Cancer Center, where Bob's warmth and compassion once
again, shone through as he connected with patients and staff. Volunteering and helping
others remained an important part of his life, even after Jan's passing in 2018.
Bob regularly attended and actively participated at the Church of the Master. This is where
he made a very dear friend, Linda Mann, who shared his love of sports, the church, and
each other.
He is survived by his children: Brenda Martz (Eric), Steve Carraway (Pam), Mark Carraway
(Christie), and Joanna Post (David). He was a proud grandfather to Ryan, Lauren, Brian,
Brent, Kyle, Daniel, Anna, Katie, Morgan, and Nick, and a great-grandfather to eleven great-
grandchildren. He is also survived by three stepchildren.
Bob will be remembered for his humor, his playful teasing, and for always being willing to
lend a helping hand. His long life was marked by service to others and a personality that
left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Services will be held in Mesa Arizona on April 10th at the Church of the Master, as well as in
Anderson, Indiana.
