Andrew Kenneth Weatherly

EDENTON, N.C. - Andrew Kenneth Weatherly, age 79, and a Chowan County, N.C., resident for over 12 years, went to be with the Lord on May 9, 2004, following a long illness. He was born May 29, 1924, at Gum Neck, Tyrrell County, N.C., to parents John Ceafors Weatherly Jr. and Dolly Brickhouse, both deceased. Mr. Weatherly was also preceded in death by two siblings, Troy McCray Weatherly and Gladys Dale Eason Smith. He leaves behind his wife of over 56 years and the love of his life, Marjorie Gransville Simmons Weatherly. Also three children, Eric Craig Weatherly and wife, Linda, of Yorktown, Va., Brenda W. Liverman and husband, Charles, of Plymouth, N.C., and Debra W. Kyte and husband, Greg, of Williamsburg, Va. Mr. Weatherly also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Johnnie Stuart Eason, Eric Craig Weatherly Jr., Robert Michael Eason, Amy Marie Liverman Williford, Adam Grayson Kyte, Andrew Thomas Liverman and James Harrison Kyte, as well as a brother, John Junior Weatherly of Gum Neck, N.C. Following World War II, Mr. Weatherly left Tyrrell County and began a 36-year career at Newport News Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Co. where he rose to the position of section superintendent of the X18 Welding Department before his retirement in 1986. Mr. Weatherly is a Christian and a member of Rocky Hock Baptist Church. He will be remembered by his family as a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and brother. Those that knew him were truly blessed, and he will be sorely missed by his family and friends. A Celebration of Mr. Weatherly's life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, at Evans Funerals & Cremations Chapel in Edenton with the Rev. Meredith Garrett officiating. Burial will follow at Azalea Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Route 64 between Columbia and Creswell. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of donations to the Rocky Hock Baptist Church Building Fund, 113 Rocky Hock Church Road, Edenton, NC 27932.
