Anthony G. Albanese

WILLIAMSBURG - Dr. Anthony Gerald Albanese, 71, of Williamsburg, Va., passed away on Monday, Oct. 13, 2008, after a long illness.
The funeral will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 17, from the Biondi Funeral Home of Nutley, 540 Franklin Ave., Nutley. There will be a funeral mass in his memory at Holy Family Church Nutley at 10:30 a.m. The interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, N. Arlington. Dr. Albanese was a retired educational administrator for the Milford, Conn., Board of Education whose long career included 19 years as Principal of Joseph A. Foran High School in Milford, Conn., Assistant Principal of East Stroudsburg, Pa., High School, Assistant Professor of Education at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, N.J., and History Teacher at Nutley, N.J., High School. He graduated from Rutgers University with a Doctorate of Education in 1970 and a Sixth Year professional Diploma of Advanced Study from Southern Connecticut State University in 1984.
Dr. Albanese was a member of St. Bede's Catholic Church and several community organizations including Kiwanis, Colonial Italian-American Organization (CIAO), Fly Fishing Club, and History Discussion Group all located in Williamsburg, Va.
Dr. Albanese is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth (Libby) Herbert Albanese; two stepdaughters, Margaret Percesepe and her husband, Robert Carty, and Elizabeth Percesepe-Wallace and her husband, Peter; and loving grandchildren, Jonathan, Danielle, Emma, Christian and Rupert. He is also survived by his sister, Louise Fornarotto; nephews, Gerald Fornarotto, Joseph and Robert Zarra; nieces, Maria San Filippo and Leslie Killeen, Roxanne Panaro and Karen Smith.
A Celebration of Tony's life will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the Williamsburg Regional Library Theatre, 515 Scotland St. A luncheon reception will follow at noon at the family home.
