Bernice P. Perkins

1931 - 2017

WILLIAMSBURG - Bernice P. Perkins was called to her Heavenly home on Wednesday, March 1, 2017. Her life's journey began on April 5, 1931, the daughter of the late Sadie M. and Willie B. Perry, Sr., of Mississippi. Mrs. Perkins pursued a Master's Degree in Nutrition. She retired as a supervisor of the Nutrition Department at the Veterans Administration, after forty years of dedicated service. Upon moving to Williamsburg, she joined hands in fellowship with New Zion Baptist Church. She was a faithful servant of God and was a devoted member of the Senior Choir, Director of the Health Ministry and a volunteer for the Adult Day-Care. Her favorite pastime was playing golf. Her positive input regarding health and dietary issues will be greatly missed by everyone. She leaves to cherish her blessed memories, her husband, James Perkins; her sister, Marilyn Watson; her brother, Willie B. Perry, Jr.; her niece; eight nephews; other loving relatives and a host of caring friends. A service of remembrance will be held 12:00 noon on Thursday, March 9, 2017, in New Zion Baptist Church with Dr. Robert A. Whitehead officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the church by 11:30 a.m. on Thursday. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
