C. J. ran a great program and he loved what he did for so many years. Always tried to encourage the students.
I enjoyed playing for him because he liked to run the ball.
Thank you for some great memories!

My Condolences to the Wollum family.
I was recruited by coach Wollum back in 1977,and he was the main reason I went to Marshall University. He impressed me and my Mom and Dad.
During my Years at Marshall Coach Wollum was always a positive factor in our teams success, and stressed the importance of getting our Degree.
May he rest in Peace

The night before C.J. accepted the CNU basketball coaching position, he knocked on my door and explained he would be leaving his current business postion to go to CNU as the new basketball coach. He let me know his former job would need someone. That lead to my interviewing and accepting the position he was vacating. That was a really big part of C.J. Wollum. He was always going the extra mile to help people.

What a loss for the peninsula! C. J. was a wonderful coach, passionate leader, and delightful coworker. I was the Alumni Director from 1994-2000 and worked with him on several events. He was always willing to personally help me with any project. Alumni loved to see him at special events both on campus and around the state. My husband and I enjoyed attending games, we enjoyed watching C.J. from the sidelines as much as the game itself! I remained on campus until 2009 and continued to see him on a regular basis. To his daughters...losing parents has to be one of the toughest things that we have to go through in this life. And to Suzanne and all other family and friends, you too have our deepest sympathy. Cherish your memories from over the years. He truly was a legend and we certainly will miss running into him around town and other encounters with him both on and off campus. All of you will be in our thoughts and prayers during this time. God Bless.

Dear Kristy, Emily and Suzanne,
We have been praying for C J since we first heard of his cancer, and we are so sad for you and for all of us who worked with, admired and were fond of C J. During the years that IT Services and the office of the CIO were in Ratcliffe, our relationship with C J was always positive. Further, he was open to our personal cause of racing sailing as a Collegiate sport. He was a fine man, and we are so sorrowful that he lost the battle.
May God bless you all.

Woollum Family,
May God comfort each of you at this time. Coach C. J. dedicated his life to that which he loved, people and sports. I played on his first championship basketball team at CNU in
85-86. C. J. once told me…there's nothing like the first championship.
However, all of C. J's championships were special to him, just like all of his players. God allowed me to run across C.J. about six months ago and he got my attention in the store. He made a few jokes as usual. Thanks coach C.J. Woollum for all the great basketball memories! Your Point Guard, Jerome "Popcorn" Nicholson
