Carl Jenkins Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - Carl 'Jigger' Degge Jenkins, 64, of Newport News, Va., died Tuesday, May 30, 2006. He was a graduate of Warwick High School and served in the United States Coast Guard. He retired from the maintenance department of Smithfield Foods after 17 years of service. Carl was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a true environmentalist. Carl was a member of Ole Virginia Hunt Club for many years, where he served as treasurer and, most importantly, the breakfast cook. His parents, Eure and Elizabeth Jenkins; and a brother, Eure 'Inky' Jenkins Jr., preceded him in death. He is survived by a daughter and her husband, Deidra and Jeffrey Harr, and their son, Jared Harr, of Boise, Idaho; two sons, Carl Jenkins of Ringgold, Ga., and Derek and Suzie Jenkins of Boise, Idaho, and their sons, Kevin Brizzi and Brady Jenkins. A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at his residence. Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th St., West Point, Va., handling arrangements.
