David Naber Obituary

NICEVILLE, FLA. - David Gerald Naber, 47, passed away in a private airplane crash near Destin, Florida, on July 24, 2002. David was born on December 27, 1954, in Swindon, England. After being educated in Virginia public schools, he graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1976. He served as an Air Force pilot for 11 years and had been a Delta Airlines pilot since 1987. David was a member of the Daedalions and the U.S. Air Force Academy Alumni Association. David is survived by his wife, Tania, and son, Stirling, of Niceville, Florida; his father, Gerald Naber of Carrollton, Virginia; his mother, Ruth Platenberg of Haymarket, Virginia; two sisters, Mary Ann Naber of Leesburg, Virginia, and LeeAnn Batkins of Carrollton; one brother, Russell Allison of Arlington, Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, at the Colonial Funeral Home in Smithfield, with the Rev. Harry Spear officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Education Fund for Stirling B. Naber, c/o Suntrust Bank, West Florida, 34901 Emerald Coast Parkway, Destin, FL 32541.
