Deborah Blevins-Haydon Obituary

HAMPTON - Deborah Yvonne Blevins-Haydon, 73, transitioned to glory on Sunday, February 4, 2018. She was born to the late Jerry C. Blevins and Verdelle B. Blevins on November 30, 1944. Deborah graduated from Phoenix High School, class of 1963 and studied at Bradley University in Peoria, IL before graduating from Hampton University with honors. Deborah worked at the Navy Aviation Depot (NADEP) in Norfolk, Virginia as an Equal Employment Opportunity Specialist until she retired. Deborah loved family and anyone who crossed her doorstep was lovingly welcomed and became instant family. She was always there to provide support, counseling, a helping hand, or a warm meal and place to stay to those in need. Often a coach and mentor, she touched the lives and hearts of many and her quick wit will always be remembered. Deborah loved to cook and was always on the hunt for the next new kitchen gadget. Deborah always wanted a large family and is survived by her children; Tia M. Billups (Gerald), Felicia M. Haydon, Nicole M. Haydon, Brandon J.M. Haydon (Deresa) and Keirsten M. H. Ramon. She is loved by a host of grandchildren Raven, Darian, Aiyana, Adrian, Pierce, Jamison, Justin, Sophia and a great-grandchild Aileah who she affectionately called Kayla. She leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends and is now with her daughter Kimberly M. Haydon in glory. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her illness. Gifts may be made in the form of a donation to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org. A Celebration of life will begin at 1 PM Sat., Feb. 10 at the funeral home, viewing 2 hrs prior to service. Arrangements provided by Smith Brothers Funeral Home, 545 E. Mercury Blvd., Hampton, 757-723-4117. Deborah leaves an indelible mark on the people who loved her, she will be missed.
