Donald Gaskill Obituary

HAMPTON - Donald A. 'Duck' Gaskill was called home to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007.
Donald was a 1968 graduate of Phenix High School and completed the Newport News Shipbuilding Apprentice Program. Donald worked as a Non-Destructive Testing Inspector until 1993 when he experienced a stroke and returned to his Hampton hometown.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Simon and Gladys Gaskill, and brother, Simon Gaskill Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memories two brothers, Nelson L. Gaskill (Addie) and George E. Gaskill, both of Hampton; four sisters, Earlene White of New York, Shirley Holt (Bill) of Augusta, Ga., and Joyce Gaskill of Newport News and Gladys Baker (Darnell) of Hampton; a sister-in-law, Loretha Gaskill of Hampton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Viewing will be held from noon to 7 p.m. today at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601-27th St., Newport News, VA 23607, (757) 380-0251. Funeral services will be held noon Friday at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, 230-33rd St., Newport News, VA 23607. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens.

I will always remember Donald as a class mate and friend from elementary school until we graduated from Phenix High School. He had a grand sense of humor and was just a pleasant person to be around. May God provide his family and friends the strength that they need during their time of bereavement.
