Edwin Emerson Obituary
Mr. Emerson was a native and longtime resident of Newport News. He was a very talented man, a 'jack of all trades'. He had a great love for the water and boating but most of all he loved his daughter Sarah.
Survivors include his daughter, Sarah Jayne Emerson; mother of Sarah, Pamela Hahn, both of Chesapeake; his father, Thomas (Nel) Nelson Emerson of Newport News; a brother, Thomas (Tommy) Nelson Emerson, Jr. and his wife, Debbie of Poquoson; nieces and nephews, Dana Burgess, Sonny Emerson, Rob Hunt and Renee Hirsch and a longtime companion and friend, Susan Grunewald.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby W. Emerson.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home, followed by visitation until noon. Burial is private.
