Eugene Pointer Obituary
Eugene was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Julia C. Pointer, a native of St. Martinville, Louisiana; his son, Robert E. Pointer; his parents, John and Elmer Pointer and many beloved brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. He is survived by his two sons, Gene S. Pointer and D.J. Pointer (Amy) of Newport News; daughters, Pamela P. Muncy (Steve, deceased) and Gwendolyn A. Pointer (Neala); grandsons, Adam Muncy (Pansy) and Allen Muncy of Georgetown, Kentucky; granddaughters, Heather and Taylor Pointer of Newport News; great-grandsons, Aaron Muncy of Georgetown and John Robert Sydnor of Newport News; and great-granddaughter, Arianna Muncy of Georgetown.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4 at Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 5 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with interment following at Parklawn Memorial Park.

My condolences to the family. I remember Mr. Pointer sharing his vegetables with my mom and me. The two of us looked forward to summers so we could get some of his tomatoes.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I have known Mr. Pointer since I was a teenager and I still live down the street from him. He has always been a sweet and funny man. I will truly miss talking to him when he would walk around the neighborhood. He would stop and ask about the kids and my knee. He and I had our partial knee replacements on the same day by the same doctor, lol. When my mom and again when my dad passed away, Mr. Pointer was the ONLY neighbor on the street to come see us and give us his condolences. He was a wonderful man and the kids and I will miss talking and visiting with him.

Dear Gwen and Neala, it is with a heavy heart that I read the loss of Mr. Pointer. He was a wonderful man and he loved his family and supporting and cheering on the players at Deer Park Little League. He always had an encouraging word for all that he met. My thoughts and prayers are with you both and the rest of the family. Please rely on your memories and they will help you to get thru this difficult time.
