It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grand and great grandmother, Netta May Bott who left us from this life on January 17, 2026 at Riverside Regional Medical Center. Netta was born 91 years ago in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of Gladys and Roy Richard who passed early in life and Netta was subsequently raised by her Aunt Dayse Veatch. She married Ronald G. Bott in Youngstown, Ohio, in December, 1953.

Netta has been a resident of Newport News for 52 years after being a military wife for some 19 years moving about the states and living overseas for a total of 7 years. She was a real "trooper" holding everything on a firm family footing when Ron and her were separated during military job requirements. After Ron retired from the USAF and the family settled in Newport News, Netta worked for 17 years at Grambro Medical Inc. and subsequently retired in 1992.

Netta found great joy in her retired years (Ron retired permanently in 1993) as she assisted raising her beloved grand boys and she greatly expanded one of her hobbies: Quilting. Netta went to great lengths in the construction of her hand-made custom quilts for all family members as well as friends and people she gained an appreciation for through help and fellowship which they had rendered to her personally as well as the rest of the family.

Netta was such a loving passionate wife /lady who never looked at a person's negative traits but always looked for and found the good in people, no matter the situation. She was the kind of mother who will always live in the hearts of family and friends that she had come in contact with in her long life and this family will have a hole in it forever.

Netta is survived by her husband, Ronald, of 73 years as well as her daughter, Karen E. Clemens; Son, David B. Bott (Martha) and grandsons, Michael Bott (Avorie) and Matthew Bott of Ft. Carson, Co.; granddaughters, Stephanie Galley (Tim) of Athol, ID plus one great-granddaughter, Catalina and one great-grandson, Brandon Reed.

The family passes on extreme gratitude to Riverside Regional Medical Center Intensive Care Unit led by Dr. Eric Winner plus all the involved additional care teams for the endless devotion and care they rendered to Netta.

Visiting hours will be from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at Weymouth Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 23, 2026. Retired Rev. John T LeGault Jr of Grace United Methodist Church will officiate and help to send Netta home into the Lord's hands.
