Lewis R. Bott, Jr.

Age: 91 of Haddonfield

Passed away on January 20, 2026. Born in Camden, NJ, he was a long-time resident of Haddonfield. Predeceased by his wife Rita of 64 yrs. Lewis is survived by daughter Suzanne Waltimyer of Haddonfield (Late David), Son David Bott of Haddon Heights, grandsons Brandon Bott of Barrington, Ryan and Tyler Waltimyer, of Haddonfield and Sister-in-law Kay Cauley of Ocean City, NJ, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Lew was a 1953 graduate of Haddon Heights High School; where he and Rita were High School Sweethearts. He was president of his senior class, was a member of the National Honor Society and played varsity football & baseball.

He was a graduate of Drexel University with a BS in Civil Engineering, 1959 and a MS in Engineering Management, 1967. As an undergraduate, he was active in Pi Kappa Phi fraternity.

Lew's career started at Boeing Company, Ridley Park PA as a structural engineer for 11 years. He was instrumental in developing the U.S. Army Chinook helicopter. After acquiring his Professional Engineering License in 1970, he made a career change, moving to consulting for various municipalities. First as an employee of Thomas Tyler Moore Assoc. in West Trenton, then engineer for several townships in Burlington County while working for Alaimo Assoc., Mt. Holly and, most notably, as the township engineer for Moorestown Township, while with Pennoni Associates of Haddon Heights, until his retirement in 1998.

Lew was always a home project guy – he was especially proud of the family rooms that he built on their Haddonfield home in the 1970's and later at their Pocono home in 1989. He always maintained a beautiful lawn and gardens which he and Rita enjoyed. For several years, Lew coached various youth sports teams. He was an avid Haddonfield sports fan, often attending the Bulldawg football and baseball games and wrestling matches. He also enjoyed golf and skiing.

Lew vacationed with his family in the Summers at Ocean City NJ, as well as at their Pocono house. He and Rita also enjoyed traveling to Southern California and Mexico (their favorite resort was in Puerto Vallarto).

Lew's family will receive relatives & friends on Saturday, January 31, 2026, 10-10:45 AM, at Kain-Murphy Funeral Services, 15 West End Ave., Haddonfield, NJ; where his Memorial Service will follow at 11 AM.
