Evelyn UNDERWOOD Obituary
A native of Tennessee, Evelyn resided in Richmond for 18 years, where she met her husband, Warren, and started her family. In Richmond, she worked for General Electric, building generators. She was a resident of Newport News for the past 45 years. She retired from Sears & Roebuck, after 23 years, as a sales associate in the children's department. She loved gardening and crossword puzzles, and was a devoted wife and mother.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Warren J. Underwood.
She is survived by her children, Warren Russell Underwood and wife, Vanessa, Crystal U. Via and husband, Michael, and Patricia D. Underwood; and grandsons, Stephen M. Via and wife, Amber, Thomas Jason Underwood, and Christopher J. Via.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of Virginia, Sentara CarePlex, extended family and friends, for their compassion and support.
The family will receive friends at 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1, at Peninsula Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. Interment will be held privately in Peninsula Memorial Park.

Russell, Crystal, Patricia and family. I am so very sorry to hear about the passing of you Mrs Underwood. It has been many years since I last saw her at Sears, but I have fond memories of her there and from cheerleading. She was a wonderful person and your family will be in my prayers.
