Florence Lowack Obituary

POQUOSON - Florence T. Lowack, 77, a native of Belleville, New Jersey, and a Poquoson resident for the past 35 years, peacefully entered eternal rest at home Saturday, January 21, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Married in 1961 to Ensign Frederick J. Lowack, USN, during her husband's numerous submarine deployments, she raised two sons: Michael F. Lowack (Valerie) of Kill Devil Hills, NC, and William A. Lowack of Jacksonville Beach, FL, and a daughter: Lori Ann El Shanti (David) of Poquoson. A fun person to be around, she loved to "shop until she dropped", and sending cards for all occasions to family and friends. Always keeping family first in everything she did. Florence was preceded in death by her father, Frederick Taylor, and her brother, Robert Taylor. In addition to her husband of 55 years and their three children, Florence is survived by her mother, Ann Taylor; sisters, Audrey Graziano (Sam) and Judy LaMura (Frank); brothers, Richard Taylor and James Taylor (Patty); her loving grandchildren, Sabrina El Shanti and Joseph El Shanti; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Jan. 24, 5:30-6:30 PM, followed by a Memorial Service at 6:30 PM presided by Father Bob Spencer, all at St Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church, 3800 Big Bethel Road, Yorktown. A reception will follow at the church. Graveside services will be held in New Jersey at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Diabetes Association, 1701 N. Beauregard Street, Alexandria, Virginia 22311 (diabetes.org) or Poquoson Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 2099, Poquoson, Virginia 23662. Online condolences to claytorrollins.com . The family extends special thanks to caring friends Carmen, Colleen and Myrtle plus the Sentara Hospice team of Sherri, Angela and Christina who made her final days bright.

Three years have gone by and we love Florence today, just as much, as we will always love and miss her so much forever. A day does not go by when she is not in our thoughts.❤

Sorry for your loss. May you draw comfort from the scripture at Ecclesiastes 9 : 5 that show your loved ones a resting in peace.

Florence and I both lived on Greylock Parkway. We went to grade school #5, high school and church together. We were friends growing up. I remember one Easter we both had matching outfits. Not planned, just happened and we walked to the park in Nutley. After high school we just lost touch. Both working and busy. I moved to Lavallette and lost touch with all my friends. It sounds as if she had a nice life. I'm glad to learn that. I lost my husband this past April. Memories help. Sincere wishes go out to all the family and friends.

I'm so sorry, Mike, and your family and even though I never met your Mom, she must have been pretty special to raise a wonderful person like you. Remember all the great times you've shared and keep her alive in your heart. Her life didn't end, it only changed. Love
