Frederic Boye Obituary

WILLIAMSBURG - Frederic W. Boye Jr., Major General, U.S. Army retired, died on Oct. 10, 2004, at the age of 87 in Williamsburg, Va. Freddie was a 1939 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and had a distinguished 32-year military career. During World War II, he served with the 3rd Infantry Division and made amphibious landings in Algiers, Sicily, Salerno, Anzio and Southern France. Following World War II, his assignments included Assistant Commandant of the U.S. Army Armor School at Fort Knox, Chief of Army Legislative Liaison to the Congress, command of the 7th Infantry Division in Korea and Chief of Army Personnel Operations. He attended the National War College in Washington, D.C. His awards included the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Legion of Merit and Distinguished Service Medal. After his retirement from the U.S. Army in 1971, he lived in Beaufort, S.C., for 25 years, where he worked for Banker's Trust and was actively involved in the Beaufort Community. He moved to Williamsburg, Va., in 1996. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Page Aleshire Boye; his children, Frederic W. Boye III and wife, Leslie, of Williamsburg, Va., and Brooks A. Boye and wife, Martha, of Boerne, Texas; and his grandchildren, Brian W. Boye, Allison P. Boye and husband, Dr. James Gutheil, William A. Boye and wife, Kristen, Dabney C. Boye, Kathleen W. Boye and America E. Boye. The family would like to express their gratitude to the medical and nursing staff of Williamsburg Landing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 North Michigan Ave., 17th Fl., Chicago, IL 60601-7633. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. Arrangements by Bucktrout of Williamsburg.
