Janet Forbes Obituary
She was a native and lifelong resident of Hampton.
Preceded in death by her father, Charles E. Forbes and her sister, Sarah E. Forbes; survivors include her mother, Judith K. Burke; her stepmother, Sandra P. Forbes; two brothers, Neal K. Forbes and Adrian K. Moris; and her nephew, Daniel K. Forbes.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, 2009, at Hampton Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.

as everyone knows , Janet Marie Forbes saved my life in the Summer of 1984 ... what you don´t know is that my three children live by the maxims that Janet taught me and that I also taught them !!! ... ie: don´t judge a book by its cover ,,, you can learn something from everyone you meet in Life ,,, and , the best investment you can make is Education , for yourself or for others !!!

Janet once asked me, 'what's the best investment you can make' ??? , I said something like "Gold or Silver" ??? ... she said,"No, Bob, EDUCATION is the BEST investment you can make, for yourself or for others" !!! ... and that's why I sponsor the Janet Forbes Humanitarian Award scholarship to a college bound senior at Menchville High School in Newport News, VA every year, that demonstrates Janet's humanitarian spirit !!! ... I believe Janet is there , looking over me when the Award is presented !!! ... I will always love my little blonde buddy .... Bob Walters

I learned two things from Janet that I have in turn taught my children...(1)Never judge a book by its cover...and (2)You can learn something from everyone you meet in life...true maxims to live by, along with a philosophy that said " You'll never know till you try "...all of what Janet said is directly attributed to my success at Fedex !! Janet Marie Forbes saved my life in 1984 by rushing me to Norfolk General Hospital after I was accidentally hit in the head playing catcher with the R.G.Moore baseball team by a bat swung by a U.S.S.Hornet player..She then drove my three year old son back to Emporia,VA (100 miles just one way )to his mother..Janet was a saving angel and a sweet girl with a radiant personality !!
