Jeffrey Holland Obituary

SMITHFIELD - Jeffrey Scott "Scotty" Holland, 26, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2001 at Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina. He was born Aug. 13, 1975. A life long resident of Smithfield, VA, he graduated from Smithfield High School in 1993 and was two credits shy of his Bachelor's Degree at Old Dominion University. He worked for Terminix as an inspector. "Scotty" was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served a two year mission in San Jose, California. He is survived by his two sisters, Amy Michele Holland and Marianne Elizabeth Sumpter and husband Harold. Three Brothers, James Eric Holland, currently serving a two year mission in Ogden Utah, Adam Spencer Holland and Caleb Addison Holland. His parents James Roger Holland and Diane Bowles Holland. His paternal grandmother Sarah "Bell" Salmon and husband Charles all of Smithfield, His maternal grandmother Virginia Irene Gibson, of Franklin, and several aunts and uncles. "Scotty" is also survived by his estranged wife Susan Dawn Carter and many good friends of her family. Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 4, 2002 at noon at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Suffolk on Bennetts Pasture Road with Bishop William Hooper officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Suffolk. The family will receive friends Thursday Jan. 3, 2001 from 7 to 8 p.m. in Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield and suggest that memorial contributions be made to Leukemia Society of America, Virginia Chapter, 2101 Executive Drive, Box 21, Hampton, VA 23666.
