Jesse Hitt Obituary
Freddy was born on January 16, 1945 in Newport News, VA. He graduated from Ferguson High School in 1963 and went on to serve in the US Air Force for four years. After leaving the Air Force, he was employed by Newport News Shipbuilding for thirty years, working in Machinery Installation and the Facilities Division.
In 1995, Freddy founded Jesse's Lawn Service, named in honor of his late father. His business flourished through the years as he formed strong relationships with his clients, as well as his suppliers. One of his greatest joys was found in helping others, particularly senior citizens, whether it be with lawn service or some other need. He was still working in the business at the time of his death.
Freddy was an avid sports fan. He cheered on the Washington Redskins, no matter how poorly they played, and was passionate about Notre Dame Football. Freddy loved his family and friends. He was Papa to his grandchildren whom he loved more than words could express. He greatly looked forward to his annual vacation to Myrtle Beach, where he was joined by friends for card games, much laughter, and reminiscing about the 'good old days.' Freddy did not know a stranger and was quick to welcome others into his life as friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
There will be a visitation Thursday, 5:30p.m. to 7:00p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Friday, 2:00 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home with interment following in Peninsula Memorial Park. The CDC highly recommends masks at indoor gatherings.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.

Sorry for your loss . I thought Jesse was a great gentleman. We had a lot of fun working together at the gas station. I will always remember the good times spent on the water in NC. Our loss!
