Raymond Bruce Hitt

Raymond Bruce Hitt, age 83, of Eupora, Mississippi passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, March 25, 2026, surrounded by his family at his residence in Eupora. Raymond was born in Webster County, Mississippi on September 29, 1942, to the late Marvin Stewart Hitt and Bessie Ezell Oswalt Hitt. He was a retired salesman for Wonder Bread for thirty years, then went on to work for Doss Butane, Scott Petroleum and later as a Funeral Director for Oliver Funeral Home in Eupora, Mississippi. Raymond never went anywhere he didn't find someone that he knew. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time in his woodworking shop working on various projects for his family and for others. He was also a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Eupora, Mississippi where he and his wife attended regularly until their health began to fail. Raymond is survived by his daughter, Lorrie Frances Hitt (David) Boatman and one son, Lowell Bruce (Renee) Hitt; one daughter-in-law, Ara Deven Hitt all of Eupora, Mississippi; five grandchildren, Ethan (Andrea) Boatman of Tupelo, Mississippi, Justin (Brittany) Boatman, Cameron Hitt, Colby Hitt and Nathan Hitt all of Eupora, Mississippi; three great grandchildren, Henry, Emery and Ruthie Katherine Boatman; two sisters, Laverne Stanford of Carrollton, Mississippi and Lynn (Rickey) White of Pontotoc, Mississippi; one brother, James Robert (Yvonne) Hitt of Eupora, Mississippi and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife of sixty-three years, Sarah Frances White Hitt; one son, Kevin Hitt and one sister, Louise Corder. Funeral Services for Raymond will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel in Eupora, Mississippi. The family will receive friends and loved ones for a time of visitation from 1:30PM until time for services at 3:00PM at Oliver Funeral Home on Sunday, March 29, 2026. Interment will follow at Clarkson Cemetery in Webster County, Mississippi. The Graveside/Committal Services will be held in the Chapel instead of Clarkson Cemetery. Rev. Travis Gray will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Raymond's grandsons and great grandson, Ethan Boatman, Justin Boatman, Cameron Hitt, Colby Hitt, Nathan Hitt and Henry Boatman. Honorary Pallbearers will be Curtis Clanton, Charles W. Oliver, Jr., Christopher Ray, Randy McCool, David Faulkenbery and Zachary Palmer. Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora is honored to be entrusted with all arrangements for the Hitt family.
