Thank you so much for all of the wonderful memories I gathered with you and Jennifer in my teen years. Jennifer came into my life when I was desperately trying to hide from everyone and opened my life up to an amazing world of music, family and strange-but-fun family gatherings. I am so grateful to you and your family for welcoming me into your lives and helping me break out of my shell. You are one of the most dynamic and vibrant people I have ever met. I love you like the kooky, fun-loving aunt I never had. You will be missed.

"Aunt Joan" joined our YaYa board in support of her dear niece Ginni, but she was a true YaYa in her own right. We loved (and still love) Ginni and AJ. We will miss AJ, but are comforted to know that she is now with Ginni and Mason. Don't worry, AJ and Trace, we'll keep holding on tight whenever Karen needs us! Love you Joan, my Sisterfriend.

You are my Sister,
in mind, heart and soul
I love you so much,
I pray that you know.

We weren’t always together,
life sometimes kept us apart.
But no matter the distance,
you were in my heart.

We were blessed with good times
that I'll never forget
That they weren’t more frequent
is my only regret.

In my time of sadness
as I watched you move on
I was comforted in remembering
what I knew all along.

God gave me a blessing,
something special that’s mine,
The gift of a Sister
to cherish for all time.

Rest in peace my dear Sister.
I love you…

The Rose Still Blooms

A rose once grew where all could see
Sheltered beside a wall,
And as the days passed swiftly by
Its branches spread, straight and tall.
One day, a beam of light shone through
A crevice had opened wide-
The rose bent gently towards its warmth
Then passed to the other side..
Now you who deeply feel its loss
Be comforted...the rose still blooms there-
Its beauty even greater now
Nurtured by God's own loving care.

Mom,
Seems like there are always things people want to say after someone has gone but I am so lucky to have been more than your daughter, but a great friend, and I know in my heart I have told you everything I possibly could. When I was in school teachers told you how I wrote about you being my hero and you cried, when I won awards in college you were there by my side and you cried. I am so happy I do not regret one minute with you, even the teenage fights where I swore I'd never talk to you again helped me grow and 5 minutes later I was crying in your arms because I loved you that much. I could not have scripted a better mother in my life than the one God gave me. I am so glad you lived with me for the past 5 years and I got to spend every day with you. I love you more than I thought a heart could hold and I am proud of who I am today because of you.

You left an amazing footprint on our lives, Joan....You were a mom to those of us who lost theirs, a friend when there was no one, a matchmaker when faith was lost, a breath of sunshine in the middle of a storm...but most of all, you taught us no matter how life was, we had to take time out to smile....

We love you Joan.....if it wasnt for you, I wouldnt have met Jeff oon my birthday, and I wouldnt have had 2 beautiful children....I love you so much....

Please say hi to my dad and mom....Please watch over us, guide us, and never leave our hearts....xo.

Joan was a good neighbor and a good friend. We had some good times together, so I have great memories of her. She could write and sing songs like no other woman I know. I loved to hear her sing. You, as her family, can be proud to have had her in your life. Take comfort in the fact that she is not suffering anymore and that one day we will be with her in Heaven. May God bless and comfort each member of her family. Love you all.
