John E. Ancarrow III

John E. Ancarrow III, age 51, passed away unexpectedly September 8, 2021 at his home in Melbourne, FL. He was born December 8, 1969 In Newport News, VA to John (Jay) E. Ancarrow, Jr. and Kaaren Gearhart Ancarrow of Yorktown. He spent his early childhood in Newport News and York County and later moved with his family to Elm Grove, WI. After graduating high school he attended the University of Minnesota, finally settling in Melbourne, FL where he started a family of his own and built a successful tattoo business. In addition to his parents, John is survived by his wife Asta and son Drew of Melbourne, FL, sister Heather Ancarrow (Adam Dingeldein) and niece Ella of East Troy, WI, his aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends. With a contagious laugh and an open and accepting heart, John had a talent for making friends wherever he went. He never hesitated to help anyone in need in any way he could. He loved spending time with friends, skateboarding, surfing, and listening to music, especially the Grateful Dead. John's true passion, however, was his art. He was an amazingly gifted artist and illustrator from a very young age. From the stock cars he sketched at the kitchen table as a young boy, to the thousands of living canvases he inked over his long career as a tattoo artist, John's creativity lives on in his art. He will be dearly missed. Friends and family are invited to stop by the Ancarrows' house in the Edgehill neighborhood of York County for a celebration of life on Sunday, October 24 from 2 - 5 PM.
