After his internship at DePaul Hospital he embarked on his lifelong work as a family practice physician He practiced family medicine for 50 years, first in private practice then as a Riverside physician. My prayers and thoughts are with the family and friends of DR. Q. Thank you for sharing this unique individual with us at the Gloucester Mathews Care Clinic. He was a man who lived life to it's fullest and wanted to see that others had the same opportunity.

Dr. Q was a physician who saw his patient as a person deserving of his full attention and care. He was the kind of healer who gave those he treated a clear message, "this is a problem we will both solve."
He will be truly missed but fondly remembered.

Dr. Quarles lived at the end of our street in Poquoson in 1960. Whenever one of our family members needed tending, he would make a house call on the way home from his office and take care of us. He was never rushed and always took time to be truly connected to us. Dr. Quarles set the bar for what it means to be a Good Physician. He will be fondly remembered for his sincere care of others and as someone who deeply influenced all around him. May God comfort his family.
