Joseph Batcha Obituary

HAMPTON - Joseph John Batcha, 63, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2005. Joe's spirit left us to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Nov. 1, 1941. He served the United States as a government employee for 41 years in various capacities. He also held many offices over the years in the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Joe was to retire Aug. 1, 2005, from Langley Air Force Base, Va., and travel with his wife, Joy, to the many places they dreamed about. Joe enjoyed spending his weekends with his wife on their boat or just hanging out with their friends having a Molson. He is survived by his mother and father, Anna and Joseph Batcha; his wife, Joy Batcha; and brother and wife, Gene and Linda Batcha. During his life he enjoyed six children and eight grandchildren. Joe will be greatly missed by all his family and friends that shared in his life. A service will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 12893 Jefferson Ave., Newport News, conducted by Pastor Richard G. Barnes. A visitation will follow from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in Brookston, Ind. Please visit this memorial at www.altmeyer.com.
