Joseph Joines Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - Joseph Curtis Joines, 82, died Monday Dec. 31, 2001 at the Governors Inn Retirement Residence in Newport News. A native of Dagsboro, Del., Joseph served his country in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and in Korea and retired as a Master Sergeant in 1959. He then went to work as a postal clerk for the U.S. Postal service from where he retired in 1982. He is survived by his wife, Arlie L. Joines; daughter, Joy Sreves; three sons, Joseph Jr., Rodney and John Joines; sister, Marie Gunby; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. A funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, at the Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor William Harrell. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will received friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the care of Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 North Armistead Avenue in Hampton.
