I heard the news today....oh boy....Karen,
I will never forget our conversations about newspapers...our bond with DP. Nor will I forget our days at Pt. W., out with friends (you knew everyone) and they knew you because you were a sweet pea....here's to PFAC, MM, and others days.Janet Willard Millard

Your light will always live in my heart. Though I have traveled the world, I have yet to find a gem more perfect then you. Until we meet again, like we always said, we will always remain close. Goodnight Dear Friend

Karen was a great person and friend. I worked with her for over 17 -1/2 years at the paper. She will be missed greatly.

A beautiful, and accurate, obit for a beautiful, and accurate, person. Thank you.
Karen and I started working at the newspapers in Newport News within a few weeks of each other, Karen at the DP and me at the T-H, both covering the same beat, the local schools. We became friends quickly and competed always, then became co-workers for many years. She was a model of a journalist, and of a good person. I'm sorry to hear that her grace and wisdom can now only be brought to bear from memory, but I am sure it will still be felt by the many people whose lives she enriched. And by those who in turn take Karen's life lessons to others.

Jessica, I have no words. I am so very, very sorry. Your mom changed my life (and me) for the better, and I will always be grateful for the time I spent with her. Thank you for sharing her with the world.
