You know we have been shocked by several transisitons to their rewards this past year, of several members of our Hampton University "Away Team" (Basketball, Football)as we traveled with teams and the band to different places. You know who I am referring to. We know Kathy will never leave you and now she can do more to help you. We have been hugging you since high school so you know where to come. You had no way of knowing that she was as great as she was in the eyes of God. She did her best everyday and earned not to suffer.
Now you go forth and do your very best; and make YOURSELF proud because she Kept us proud of you and she shared her love for you with us, so start building young lady because you have some great things to do. Now rest, relax and get on with it.

Hi, it is Carlos from SMZBT! I recently heard of the passing of your mom and my prayers are with you and your family. I will miss seeing you two together as you guys were like Batman and Robin :-)
I do not need to tell you how much your mom loved you as it was evident by the way she interacted with you.
Her smile is what I will miss most; it was infectious... I will be in touch with you soon when things settle down a bit.

Kamyl, Your mom is going to be truly missed by so many. The basketball games will never be the same without her in the front row in her Hampton Blue. She supported her Pirates and Lady Pirates no matter where they were playing. Her kindness and generosity were such a blessing to me. She was always there with a helping hand, whether it was making tuna salad for a baby shower or making a spaghetti dinner for my kids, There will never be another like Ms. Block and I will miss her friendship. I've know you and your mother for 4 years and it's been a pleasure knowing you two. God has shown me that you are loving, kind,sweet and caring people that looks out for others.All the times you two came to the Computer Center and spent time with my folks showed just how much we really meant you. May God bless you. It is now your turn to recieve what you and your mother has been giving to others over the years. To Kamyl and Family,
I am deeply sorry to hear about the loss of Ms. Block. She was my FAVORITE teacher at Hampton...and more than just a teacher. She was a great teacher, but her love did not stop there. She supported me when I was in the band (even brought me lunches), and even after she retired, whenever we saw each other, she always took time to talk for a minute and make sure that I was doing well. She always had encouraging and nice words to say. She will truly be missed.

To Kamyl and the entire Family of Ms. Kathy Block,
My prayers and thoughts are with you all during this time. Ms. Block truly was a blessing to many Hampton nursing students, including myself. I remember seeking counsel from her numerous times, along with many of my class mates. One time in particular, I was approaching graduation and contemplated working on my graduate degree. I wanted her to help me make the decision, and as only Ms. Block could, she stated "you're already broke what's two more years!" The decision was obvious at that point. Yes, I entered graduate school and graduated!
This is but one of many stories I could share with you all. I just hope you find comfort knowing she was loved by the entire "HU Family"

To the Family and Friends of Ms. Block. As one of her students at Hampton University. I can say Ms, Block has left a lastly impression on me. When I needed someone to talk to she was there for me. Ms. Block made learning fun!! There are many memories that come back when I think of Ms. Block .....my favorite memory is when someone (including me) would raise their hand and answer a question (wrong) Ms. Block would look at you and say "alrighty then" all we could do is laugh at ourself.
Another thing she stressed to us as students soon to be professionals ..."Is never discount yourself"....Til this day I think of those words when I doubt myself. Ms. Block is and will always be a special person to me. I know we will all celebrate her wonder inspiring life. I am thankful for the opportunity to know Ms. Block.

Kamyl, May God's Blessings continue to flow upon you more abundantly at this difficult time. Your mom is truly a Blessing to me she touched my heart and soul like no one else at Hampton University. The most down to earth instructor, you didn't necessarily have to come to her with a nursing problem her door was always open for any problem or issue. Ms. Block the laughter, smiles, and tears that we shared will never be forgotten. Thanks for being such an inspiration, we will meet again.

Mrs. Block was more than just an dynamic educator; she was a true friend, comedian and role model for all the nurses who grew under her watchful eye. God walked through his garden of faithful servants and saw that there was one who had completed the work he had for her. She had fullfilled the purpose he set for her life and the plan was complete. Her work here on earth was done. You have been a Good and Faithful Servant. It is time for you to rest in my Glory. You have open your heart to the people I set before you. You have Loved them as much as I Love You. You have comfort those who needed to be comforted. You have taught My Word and Won Souls for Me. You have proven youself to be true to me through your Love, Praise, Worship and Faithfullness. I am Pleased. Come and Rest. Just as always, Kathy was Obedient.
We will miss her here on earth, but can't you see her in Heaven being served by the Angels sitting at the feet of Jesus smiling and rejoicing? When I think of Kathy and how she has touched so many lives, I am reminded of the Apostles of Christ in Thessalonia, Paul, Silas and Timothy, when they expressed their love for the people at Thessolonia - As Apostles of Christ we could have been a burden to you but, we were gentle amoung you, like a mother caring for her little children. We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us. (1 Thessalonian 2:6-8)
In the 20+ years of knowning Kathy, she has always given and left apart of herself with the people who she came in contact with. Her students, patients, peers, friends and family. Her smile was infectious and she cared for others as much as she cared for Kamyl (and we all known how much Kamyl means to her). Even though she is absent from us in body, her spirit is enternal and will be with us always.
Kamyl, remember all the good times and that even though your mom is not present with you in body, her spirit lives with you and in you. Remember God's word, Isaiah 66:13 - As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you. God is ever present to comfort you, remember Him and call upon his name. Just as I have heard your Mom do, so many times and God never let her down. He will not leave you or forsake you either. He promised in in Word.

I loved Mom very much. I consider you and your mother very much of an extended family. She took care of my mom when I had to go back home to take care of my grandparents. She would cook food and send it home with my mom when I came to visit so I'd have some home cookin. She was there with my mom and brothers after I had Veroncia jokin' on my brothers and threatened my husband with bodily harm if he didn't "treat me right because I was HER Lisa". You know you can borrow my mom now when you need one. You're like my little sister anyway. You know I'm there for you. I'm gonna miss her very very very much. But now I now I have another angel looking out for me.

I am missing my Aunt already. We recently started a new family tradition of going to the Outlet Mall in Smithfield on Thanksgiving Day at midnight, with the rest of the crazy shoppers, to shop till we dropped...and that's what we attempted to do!!! ~smile~ The tradition will continue on in her memory. She was there for my mommy and helped her battle breast cancer.
Somehow she always knew when to show up at our doorstep as soon as the collards were ready! And our families would smack our lips on collards, "Brenda's Potato Salad", and "Hermel's Famous Ribs 'n Chicken". There's nothing like family!
Eventhough she was an HU Pirate, I hope the Lord doesn't hold it against her...AGGIE PRIDE!!! (inside joke)
To my dearest cousin, Kamyl...you know that you are always in my prayers and anything that I have is yours...absolutely anything!

Kamyl, I am so, so sorry for your loss. I am truly in a state of shock. I was floored when I heard the news of this sudden loss. You know that your mother was truly special. Ms. Block was a true blessing. She was a great nursing instructor. She taught me a lot, mainly how to keep it real and keep it funny. I would not be where I am in the military if it were not for her. I appreciated all the advice and direction that she provided me. She introduced me to politics. Thank you, DR. BLOCK!! May your angelic soul rest in peace.

I was sadden when I got the call about your mother death. My heart broke into. I would like to say that your mother was the best nursing instructor that I had, the nursing field will surely feel its loss. I enjoyed being around her she made you learn. She will be sadly missed I really do feel the lost now. My heavenly father he does not make mistakes he would not put nothing on you that you cannot bare. Earth have no sorrow that heaven can not heal. I know that your heart is heavy now but just remember that you have a savior in Jesus Christ that heal all pain.
