To Eric & family, my girls & I were truly saddened to hear of Laurie's passing. Having been rather new to motherhood when I began working closely with her in 1997, I enjoyed and learned a lot about the adventures of motherhood from the many stories she so eagerly shared with her coworkers and I. It was impressive how she was always able to share, never in a boastful way, but in a manner which expressed her deep love and feelings of being well pleased. Although I never met Adam, Grant, or Skye, her shared experiences of being an Aunt left me feeling as if I knew them very well and inspired me to become a more involved Aunt to my own nephews and neices. Laurie's love for her family and friends was seen by all who knew her.

Christopher and Ericka, you two were your MOTHER'S WORLD! Take comfort in knowing that the arms which welcomed your mother's "heavenly arrival" are the same arms which will see you through this most difficult time. She instilled wonderful values in each of you which you will find yourselves recalling more and more as you enter the different stages of your lives. Please remember that what matters most is not the amount of time we spend here on earth, but rather the extent to which we share our love while here. Your mother had a genuine love for others.....especially for children and those less fortunate. The many lives she touched while here were a testament to this fact.

Continue to keep your mother smiling as she continues to watch over you both from her new home.

With deepest regards,

Katherine Ikner

Eric, Christopher and Erica: Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. The loss of Laurie will certainly leave a void for each of you. May you always keep your dearest memories of Laurie at hand for times of solace. Remember the joy that she brought to many, and if you need more may you turn to the many that Laurie touched! Christopher and Erica, your mom was a pillar of strength and humor for the folks we worked with in the Data Center at Spiegel. She loved you both dearly and never skipped a beat letting me know. It was always a joy sharing her stories of you both. You both made her very proud and immensley happy! My Deepest Sympathy.

To Eric, Christopher, and Erika Ellis,
My husband, Larry, and I are extremely shocked and saddened at the news of Laurie's passing. She was a great person and an inspiration in the way she lived her life. Her love for her children was obvious and heartwarming. She also had a great sense of humor and a lot of good common sense. We will miss her. Our prayers are with you at this difficult time. May your memories comfort you.

Laurie was so proud of both of her children and all of their accomplishments. She would share her proud stories with me and I would share mine with her. We laughed and cried together over what our children had done. We also both lived in Hawaii and shared some of the same memories from that period. My heart is truly broken over this loss and my heart goes out to Eric, Chris & Ericka.
Rest in peace my friend, we will see each other again one day.
