Loretta Ellis, what a lady! I know Mrs. Ellis from our days at Calvary Baptist in Newport News. She was a good friend of my mother, Virginia Nichols, for many years. Mrs. Ellis was a dynamic force at Calvary as was her whole family. Today I believe Loretta is singing in heaven. Amen

My husband Ted and I are very sorry to hear of Mrs. Ellis's passing. She was the teacher of both of our daughters in third grade. That is Christina and Lisa Talay at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School in Newport News. WE have many a memory of her. May you and your family find comfort in people who care.

Mrs. Ellis was my 3rd grade teacher and is still my favorite. She taught me to love reading (by reading Matilda during breaks) and to spread my wings. I have since become an educator and have had to gently chide students for rushing through their work so they can spend time reading, just as she did to me. I am very sorry for your loss. She was a treasure.

Mrs. Ellis taught my daughter Megan in 1987 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic School. She was a dedicated professional educator with great warmth and compassion for her students. Be assured of our prayers during this difficult time. May she rest in peace. The Mansfield family

Mrs Ellis was my first teacher when I moved VA in the middle of third grade. It wouldn't have been an easy transition without her! She was such a kindhearted lady that I've mentioned a number of times as one of my favorites. Rest In Peace.

Myself and my husband were deeply saddened by the news of Miss Loretta's passing. We are new to The Sleepy Lake neighborhood for 2 years. Both myself and my husband enjoyed talking with her.
She had the most beautiful yard in the neighborhood she was always out watering her plants ,pruning her plants and just making sure everything was perfect something about that was comforting. We're going to miss seeing her and talking to her.Our condolences to her sons, family and friends.
