Martin Noffsinger Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - Martin Wesley Noffsinger, Sr., 70, a long time resident of Newport News died Thursday, May 12, 2005. He was surrounded and loved all day by his family and friends. Marty was the son of the late Theodore J. Noffsinger, Sr. and Ouida Boguess Noffsinger, and brother of the late Dr. Theodore J. Noffsinger, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Frances Wynne Noffsinger; his beloved sons, Martin Wesley Noffsinger, Jr. (Caroline), Stephen Winston Noffsinger (Brandi) and David Wynne Noffsinger, and his greatest joys, his grandchildren, Ouida, Wesley III, Kyle and Tanner. He is also survived by his sister, Kay N. Owen (Alton) of Jarrett, Va.; brothers, Thomas W. Noffsinger (Kathleen) of Deltaville, Va. and Timothy G. Noffsinger (Susan) of Middletown, Md.; and sister-in-law, Shirley S. Noffsinger of Easton, Md. Marty grew up in Darnestown, Md. and moved to Newport News, Va. thirty-six years ago. He was a member of Hilton Christian Church (DOC), Newport News, serving as Board Chairman, Elder and choir member, and for many years attended the weekly Virginia Fellowship Businessmen's Prayer Breakfast. He was also a past president of the Newport News (Host) Lions Club and for several years enjoyed his volunteerism at The Mariners Museum of Newport News. He was winding down his career in Insurance and Securities as a Registered Financial Advisor. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday May 15 at Hilton Christian Church, 100 James River Drive, Newport News, Va. (23601) In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Marty's memory to Hilton Christian Church or to a favorite charity. Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

You know I've lost my best friend and will certainly miss 'Nice Person'. My heart goes out to you and your entire family and I pray that the Lord will give you the where with all to stay strong and help you lean on one another to carry on. I'm also available to lean on should the need arise.

We just heard about Marty. Marty was such a wonderful husband and father. He was also a good friend during my father's illness and death in l973. Our love goes to Fran and her family.
