In 1941 she earned her high school diploma from Phenix High School in Hampton where she was a member of the National Honor Society, basketball, drama, debate teams and Homecoming Queen.

While working in the laundry at Hampton University she began taking typing courses and eventually landed a secretarial job at the University. She was encouraged by her mentor to further her studies and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in education in 1955. From 1955 until 1960 she worked as a teacher at Hampton city schools. Situations beyond my control prevented me from attending Dr. Christian's Homegoing Service.
I met her while a student at Hampton Institute although I was not in the Education Department.
I suppose her service was heavily attended. So far, none of my Friends that were able to attend have yet to tell me about the event.
I did get to the cemetery to her graveside. Said a prayer.
There are many there now I either knew or was acquainted with.
As for politics, I did not live in the 92nd House of Delegates district.
She will be missed.

I am sorry to hear of the passing of this wonderful young lady. What a joy it must have been to have personally known her. God blessed you with her for many seasons now it's time for her to be with God and rest. She has done the job of many and it seem she did it effortlessly. Praying for the family. May you know she was loved by many. I love her because of only hearing of her. And reading her accolades. Always Antoinette
