Myrtle Geneva Philbates

Myrtle Geneva Marr Philbates, 97, of West Point, VA passed away June 28, 2018. She was a long-time member of Pamunkey United Methodist Church. Geneva was an avid gardener and a member of the Lively Ladies Club. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry Philbates; her parents Frederick Marr and Myrtle Burford; and six brothers and two sisters. Geneva was survived by a daughter Virginia Smither (Miller) and a son Walter Philbates (Linda): two granddaughters Donna Edmonds and Mary Bush (Dean); three great-grandchildren Tiffany Bush, Justin Bush and James Edmonds, Jr; one great-great-granddaughter Ella Jane Edmonds; two sisters Joyce Adams and Vonnie Tuck and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 2nd at West Point Christian Church, 290 W. Euclid Blvd., West Point, VA 23181. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in Pamunkey United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th Street, West Point, VA 23181.
