Myrtle Philbates Obituary

Myrtle Geneva Marr Philbates, 97, of West Point, VA passed away June 28, 2018. She was a long-time member of Pamunkey United Methodist Church. Geneva was an avid gardener and a member of the Lively Ladies Club. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry Philbates; her parents Frederick Marr and Myrtle Burford; and six brothers and two sisters. Geneva was survived by a daughter Virginia Smither (Miller) and a son Walter Philbates (Linda): two granddaughters Donna Edmonds and Mary Bush (Dean); three great-grandchildren Tiffany Bush, Justin Bush and James Edmonds, Jr; one great-great-granddaughter Ella Jane Edmonds; two sisters Joyce Adams and Vonnie Tuck and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 2nd at West Point Christian Church, 290 W. Euclid Blvd., West Point, VA 23181. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in Pamunkey United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th Street, West Point, VA 23181. Memorial donations may be made to Pamunkey Memorial Association, 15821 Pamunkey Church Road, Lanexa, VA 23089. Tributes may be posted at www.vincentfh.com.
