Phyllis HANKINS Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - Phyllis Belcher Hankins, 77, passed away June 28, 2010, at Sentara Careplex.
A native of Tazewell County, Va., she moved to Newport News in 1964. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ralph A. Hankins.
Left to cherish her memory are two sons and their wives, Dr. Gary D. V. Hankins and Barbara of Galveston, Texas, Timothy H. Hankins and Dawn of Virginia Beach, Va.; her sister, Patty Lowe and her son, Steven Lowe of Tazewell, Va.; six grandchildren, Nathaniel, Catherine, Amanda, Caleb, Rebecca, and Jacob; two great-grandchildren, Skylar and Joslyn; and all of her friends who she considered to be her extended family. We are all blessed with the great love and memories she gave to us during her lifetime.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 2, at Parkview Methodist Church in Newport News. The family will be receiving friends prior to the service at 10 a.m. at the church.

I don't believe I ever met your mother Gary, but I can only imagine how wonderful she was to have raised you to be the man you are today. It's been too many years since we last saw each other in high school but your kindness and friendship is something I have always treasured.
