Ray Etheridge Obituary

SEAFORD, VA - Ray Ivan Etheridge, 87, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2013. Ray was a native of Guernsey, WY and was a former resident of Gloucester before moving to the Peninsula in 1982. He retired as a LT. from the US Navy after 25 years. Serving during World War II, Korea and Vietnam. After retirement he worked in Naval Mine Engineering at Naval Weapons Station, Yorktown and was also a real estate agent. He was a former member and helped to build Apostle Lutheran Church in Gloucester, and was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Seaford. Ray is survived by his wife Frances; 3 sons Ivan Etheridge (Shari) of Gloucester, Ronnie Mills (Irene) of Seaford, Robbie Mills (Brenda) of Yorktown; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by special friends Ron and Brenda Pierce and Barbara Zeno. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Mills. A funeral service with full military honors will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, October 13, at Zion United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church. Arrangements by Amory Funeral Home.

My condolences to the Fran and the Ethridge family. I have known Ry for many years and enjoyed his humor. I saw him freequently at the monthly luncheons over the past several yeras. Sorry I missed the funeral as i am on the west coast touristing after the Minemen reunion. John
