Robert Atherton Obituary
Bobby was born on Sept. 10, 1953, and was a lifelong resident of Mathews County. He owned and operated a marine construction business for over 30 years and was known for his quality work. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time with his friends and family, and he always looked forward to morning coffee with his friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Milton; and his brothers, Mickey and Scotty.
He is survived by his mother, Geraldine; his daughter, Carrie; his brother, Keith and his wife, Christine; niece and nephew, Kelly and Kevin; and a longtime companion, Carol Verlander.
The family will receive friends, Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, Va. A Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009.

I'm shocked and sorry to hear of Bobby's passing. We had a lot of good times hunting together at East River Hunt Club! Bobby, Keith and I and all the rest. I am so sorry to see Bobby leave this earth so soon. My heart goes out to Carrie, his dear Carol, and especially to Aunt Geraldine. I know how much they will miss him. He was the little cousin tagging along when Mickey and I would play! He turned out to be a fine man. Love, Norma
