Robert Birdsong Obituary
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of 49 years, Janice Martinez Birdsong; his son, Brian Darden Birdsong; and his brother, Raymond Birdsong.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Crockett Birdsong; daughters Cathy Dutchak (Mike), Stephanie Birdsong, Joan Windmuller (Steve); son, Robert Marc (Trey) Birdsong; stepsons, Philip Crockett (Elizbeth), Craig Crockett (Diane), and David Crockett; grandchildren, Sarah Geroux, Alexander Dutchak, Adam Dutchak, Kelsey Windmuller Ivy (David), and Seth Windmuller; step-granddaughters, Sydney, Caroline, and Catherine Crockett; and two great-grandsons, Elliot and Cooper Ivy.
The family would like to thank all the members of the Riverside Hospice team, especially RN Dannielle and CNA Shanelle for their loving and dedicated care during his last months.
Robert has requested that no services be held. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.

So sorry to hear of Bob´s passing. I really treasure my memories of working with Bob at Yorktown. I was not in Bob´s engineering group but was in Operations where I worked in Engineering under Bob during turnarounds. And as we engineers said at Yorktown, once you work for Birdsong, you always worked for Birdsong!
I´ll always remember our discussions about who was better, Bob´s Dallas Cowboys or my Washington Redskins. Additionally, Bob and I shared a life-long hobby in woodworking. Bob was excellent and he taught me a lot of valuable techniques that I use to this day.
After retiring in 2016, I retired in Williamsburg and had the pleasure of visiting with Bob and Shirley on four occasions with some of Bob´s engineers that worked for Bob back in the day. Bob managed a lot of us young engineers and we were all better for it.
May Bob Rest In Peace and may God bless Shirley.

My deepest condolences for your loss. Bob was my first supervisor at Amoco after I graduated from UVA in 1977. He was a role model for me and set a bar that I aspired to emulate later in my career as I managed people. Bob was a terrific person to have as one's first manager and I count myself fortunate because of this. He made a lasting impact on me and his memory will live on.
