Robert Lee Westall

NEWPORT NEWS - Robert Lee Westall, 76, died Sunday, June 5, 2005. He was born in Yancy County, N.C. and had been a peninsula resident for 50 years. He was a member of Hilton Baptist Church. Mr. Westall retired in 1992, after 28 years of service, as a foreman in the maintenance department of Newport News Public Schools. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Estelle Westall; one daughter, Kathy W. Ayers and her husband, James M. Sr., of Newport News; four grandchildren, Nathalie Ayers Nunn, James M. Ayers, Jr., Victoria Ayers Hardisty, and Jordan Kristine Lovell; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Westall Lovell. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, in W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 9, in Hilton Baptist Church, with Rev. Lynwood Wells and Rev. Raymond Howell officiating. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park.
