Shantel DOBSON Obituary
Her life's journey began on July 29, 1993, the daughter of Althea and Calvin Dobson Sr., of Williamsburg, Va.
At an early age, she gave her life to Christ and became a devoted member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Charles City, Va. She served her church as a member of the Youth Choir and the Choreographer of the Praise Dance Team. In June of this year, Shantel graduated from Warhill High School. While in high school, she was very active. Cheerleading was her passion and she was a member of the Competition and Varsity Cheerleaders Teams. She also was a member of Project Discovery.
Shantel had been accepted into Shaw University, Raleigh, N.C., where she had planned to attend this fall and continue her education in the field of Psychology. She was a high-spirited young lady who really loved and enjoyed life. She made friends wherever she went. Her big smile and wonderful personality will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Shantel leaves to cherish her precious memories, her loving and devoted parents, Althea and Calvin Dobson Sr.; her caring brother, Calvin L. Dobson Jr. (Brendy); her grandparents, Bernice and Ernest Dobson Sr., all of Williamsburg; her maternal grandmother, Elder Lillian M. Moore of Charles City; her aunts, Linda Vincent (Louis), Gail Jennerett (Chris), Tasha Dobson, all of Williamsburg and Michelle Beamon, of Charles City; her uncles, Ernest Dobson Jr. (Carla), of Huntsville, Ala., Dennis Dobson, David Dobson, Lorenzo Hatchett (Dana), Herman Hatchett Jr. (Lorraine, a devoted aunt whom she truly loved), all of Williamsburg; her great-aunts and great-uncles; her little niece, Tamyjha White-Dobson; her nephew, Amar'e L. Dobson; her devoted cousins, Jimika Jackson, Desiree Jones, Derrick Dobson and Ashley Blake; her godsisters, Renee Carroll and Sherka Armstead; her godbrother, Shemar Mason; her loving godmother, Brenda Blake; and a host of other loving family and many caring friends.
A funeral service, celebrating the life she lived, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2011, in Bethel Restoration Center, 6205 Richmond Road, with the Rev. George Magazine officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Charles City. Family and friends will assemble at 159 Allyson Drive by noon on Friday. Shantel may be viewed from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
