Steven Jenkins Obituary

Steven Byron Jenkins, 60, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in the United Kingdom while his father the late, Edwin John Jenkins and mother, Marlene Eley Jenkins served in the US Air Force. In addition to his father, Steve is preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Kathy Lynn Cockburn Jenkins (d. 4/25/2017). Formerly of Hampton, he had lived in Carrollton since 1999. A drag racing fanatic at heart, Steve had made a career of an auto body mechanic, most recently working for First Team Toyota, Western Branch, Chesapeake. He will be remembered for his willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need and touched many lives in so doing. He was always positive and a ray of cheer; had the greatest sense of humor, loved rock-and-roll music and played the drums. He loved country living and often went hunting in South Hill, VA. Steve leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Marlene Jenkins; his daughter, Lesley A. Regnet and her husband, Glenn, and grandsons, Ryder, Brysen, and Oliver; his son, Anthony B. Jenkins; and a host of extended family and friends. Family and friends will gather 2-4 pm, Sunday, April 15, 2018, for visitation and celebrate Steve’s life at Colonial Funeral Home, Carrollton. Burial will be private. The family suggests memorial contributions to WHRO, 5200 Hampton Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23508. Service arrangements are in the care of Colonial Funeral Home, 14214 Carrollton Blvd. Carrollton, VA. Family and friends are encouraged to share condolences and remembrances at colonialfuneralhomesmithfield.com.
