Thelma George Obituary

HAMPTON - Thelma R. George, 78, departed this life on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2006, at Riverside Regional Medical Center. Mrs. George was born to the late Curtis and Batie B. Rouse in Columbus County, N.C. Mrs. George is preceded in death by her husband, Harley J. George; three sisters, Roberta Rouse, Alberta Powell and Addie Mae McClain. She accepted Christ as her savior at an early age. Mrs. George leaves to cherish her memories: three sons and daughter-in-laws, Herman Rouse of Gloucester, Va, and Joann Rouse of Hampton, Va., David George (Lartina) of Richmond, Va., and Douglas George (Constance) of Raleigh, N.C.; four daughters, Mattie George, Baddie Moore (Alvin), Carolyn Vinson and Sheila George, all of Hampton, Va; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Troy of Red Springs, N.C., and Carrie Rouse of Clarkton, N.C.; numerous other relatives and friends. A viewing will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 13, at the funeral home. A homegoing service will be held noon Thursday, Sept. 14, at Nicholson-Cummings Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Carolyn Gamboa, officiating. Interment to follow at Hampton Memorial Gradens. The George family is receiving services of comfort at Nicholson-Cummings Funeral Home, 4304 Victoria Blvd., Hampton, Va. 757-728-0122.
