Dear Soror Pat,
I am so sorry to hear of your Father's passing. Our families have shared so much. I remember of the closeness of our fathers. They were brothers in many ways. It will be the little that you will remember, the quiet moments, the smiles, the laughter. /and although it is hard now, it will be the memories of these little things that will push away the pain and bring back your smile.
With sisterly love,
Marsha

Dana- I am more than certain that your mother and father are together once again (with your brother) awaiting your arrival -- after your purpose has been completed. I got the news, while attending the Monterey Jazz Festival, immediately packed and came home, hoping to make the Memorial Services. However, the send off had already occurred. Terri, Jason, JP and I are with you, and truly believe in this instance that "Absence of body is Presence with GOD"! Much Love, Your "Brother", JImmy .

Dear Family of Thomas Nottingham,
I want to express my profound condolences for your loss. "Tommy" was my Postman, during much of my childhood at 113 Hanover St. off LaSalle Ave. in Hampton. He was always a welcome sight to us and always had a kind word, smile, or joke for me or my two brothers. We often brought Tommy a glass of water or lemonaide since we knew carrying that heavy leather sack of mail was hard work on a summer day. He is in our thoughts and prayers as is his extended family. The world is a better place for having had Tommy Nottingham in it. Warm regards, Willard (Winkie) Miller, Commander, US Navy - Retired - Florida

To the Nottingham Family,
I had the distinct pleasure of working with Jessie at Syms for several years. She taught me so much about myself and my children. I cherished her friendship. My husband, Billy, knew Tom from the USPS. I visited Jessie and Tom after they retired many times. They were a wonderful Christian couple and I know they leave a huge void in your family. Blessings to you all at this difficult time.

Pat and Dana,
My mother and your mother worked together for many years at Y.H. Thomas and I remember hearing her speak so kindly of your dad, because your mother really loved and adored him. He has visited at St. Cyprian's quite often, and I have enjoyed passing pleasantries with him. I am most saddened to know of your loss, but be comforted in knowing what a wonderful person he was to so many people.
God bless you both and your families.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Nottingham 21 years ago when I moved into the house where our backyards joined. No matter how high our hedges got, Mr Nottingham always found a way to keep them trimmed so that he could come over and share vegetables from his garden. I work for the USPS and we always shared postal stories...both old and new. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

My wife and I had the pleasure to meet and come to know Mr. Nottingham as a friend and gentleman while I served as Interim Pastor at Third Baptist Church. We pray that God will comfort and keep you as you experience the death of your loved one.

To Pat, Dana, and the entire Nottingham family I pray that the Creator gives you strength during this very difficult time. Your father was so special in many ways. A stalewart servant of Christ at Wine Street/Third Baptist Church, a friend and mentor to many, and a man of integrity and candor. There may be a few, but the character of your father is hard to find these days, where his word was his bond. My father the late Leonard M. Johnson would ALWAYS seek consult with your Dad and to me that means so much. May the good deeds and love that your father exemplified carry you today, put smiles and laughter in your heart, because we were all enriched by knowing him and the infinite love and guidance he provided to all.
Sincerely,
Gloria Corbin Taylor

Mr. Nottingham was our mail carrier here on Chesapeake Ave. for many, many years. There was always a smile and kinds words of greetings. The sharing of family doings revealed his joy and love of his as well as his delight in our five children who all knew him as a welcomed visitor to our door. We send our sincere condolences and pray that all of you may know the presence of our Lord in these days and forever.

Mr. Nottingham use to assist Mr. Brooks when I played for the Demons growing up in Dunbar Garderns. I can still remember riding in that 58 red and white Ford sedan to those games where ever we had to play. In my mind I can clearly see Mr and Mrs. Nottingham,Mr. Lyles, Pat and Dana at those ball games cheering us on. Mr. Nottingham would also give us meaningful advice concerning this thing we call life which I very much appreciate to this very day. As an Ambassador for the Demons Baseball Team during the years that I played with his son Thomas, Jr.thanks so much. I will see you in the morning!
May God provide the family and friends of Mr. Thomas B. Nottingham the strength that they need during their time of bereavement.
