W. E. WILLIAMS

NEWPORT NEWS - W.E. Williams, 80, departed this life for his heavenly home on Dec. 5, 2012, after a fall in October and other health problems.
Born in Nash County, N.C., son of Elijah and Hallie Williams, W.E. was an ordinary man, respected by all who knew him. He graduated from Hampton High School, then worked as manager of the Florida Orange grocery store. He later went to work in the shipyard and retired as an electrical materials planner in 1995. W.E. was a faithful member of the Hidenwood Presbyterian Church. He was a lifetime member of the Warwick Masonic Lodge 336 and was a Scottish rite member 32nd Degree.
W.E. was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Mary in 2004 and his sister, Rachel Wheeler in 2006.
He is survived by his sister, Barbara Lindley, of Smithfield; his nieces, Nell Fowler and her husband Jay, Carolyn Champion and her husband Buddy, Gerry Dunham and her husband Pat, Jean Glover and her husband Hollis; his nephew, Tommy Wheeler Jr.; and his brother-in-law, Phil Chaples.

Services for W.E. Williams will be held at the Peninsula Funeral Home in Newport News on Saturday, Dec. 8. Visitation is at 9:30 a.m. followed by the funeral services at 10:30 a.m. with burial at Peninsula Memorial Park.
