Wayne Friedel Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - Wayne 'Fred' Friedel, 67, passed away at Riverside Regional Medical Center on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004. A native of Illinois, he retired from the U.S. Navy after 21 years of service. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandy F. Flanagan, and his mother, Lenore B. Friedel. Survivors include his wife, Millie L. Friedel; daughter, Lynda Wade and husband, William, of St. Louis, Mo.; son, Fred Friedel of Roanoke; six grandchildren, Patricia, Andria, Brian, Brooke, Zachary and Kyle; great-grandson, Michael; father, Aaron Friedel; and brother, Barry Friedel of Lawrenceburg, Ky. A graveside service with military honors will be conducted 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk. Peninsula Funeral Home is handling services.

God bless you Fred. May he find peace and his family find comfort in the many memories of him. One of my favorite memories is of his wonderful pot roast that he made on grill and watching make his perfect gravy on the stove. Even though I have not seen him in years, I will most certainly miss him.
