Robert Wilson Obituary

Robert Scott Wilson

Robert Scott Wilson passed away on May 7, 2021, in the loving company of his son and daughter-in-law in Charlottesville, Virginia. Born on July 20, 1954, in Lynchburg, Va., Scott graduated from the Blue Ridge School in Dyke, Virginia in 1972. He attended Louisburg College and Central Virginia Community College before graduating from Oregon State University in 1980.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, E.J. Frewen Wilson Jr. and Betty Gray Gillespie Wilson of Lynchburg, Va.; maternal uncle, Robert Gillespie of Hickory, N.C.; and paternal aunt, Edith Wilson Berry of Bedford, Va. He is survived by his son, Robert John "Jack" Wilson, daughter-in-law, Webb Cummings Wilson; granddaughter, Kylee McClannan Sexton, all of Stanardsville, Va.; brother, E. J. Frewen Wilson III; sister-in-law, Janis Wilson of Raleigh, N.C.; niece, Monica Hinga of Albuquerque, N.M.; nephews, Schuyler Wilson of Holly Springs, N.C., and Ren Wilson of Austin Texas.

Scott had a cadre of lifelong friendships that resulted in many sensational adventures, hilarious stories, and during his failing health, nurturing support. Well-known for his love of music, festivals, camping and nature, Scott celebrated life with abandon. He was an imaginative tie-dye artist and was generous with friends and family with his many designs. Scott enjoyed sharing his culinary skills and sumptuous creations with all. A loving father and grandfather, Scott relished living in nearby proximity to his family and the close bonds they shared.

A celebration of life will be held to honor Scott's memory on July 17, 2021. For more information, contact Preddy Funeral Home. Donations may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, Charlottesville, Va.
